He started his career in Real Madrid and was able to retain his place in the Perez's High spending "Galaticos" squad. There were two main reasons. one was that he made his performances speak and second Perez was interested only to stack the team with expensive attacking players . This Spanish and club captain went on to make 480 appearances for his club and still is a first choice.
